I was born June 28, 1927 in Lincoln, Nebraska as the son of Leo LeRoy McClain, born November 28, 1898 in Sprague, Nebraska, as the son of Andrew Jackson McClain, born April 26, 1861, in Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa, as the son of Andrew Jackson McClain, born January 26, 1832 in Illinois, or Hendricks County, Indiana, as the son of Johnathon McClain, born about 1794 in Amherst County, Virgnia, as the son of James W. McClain, born about 1755 to 1760 probably in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, as the son of (question here) Henry McClain, born ?, as the son (question here) of Richard McClain, born about 1681 probably in Scotland (maybe on the Isle of Mull, very uncertain) and who died in 1777 and buried in an unmarked grave on McClain's Mountain, near Nellysford, Virginia. I can provide a more complete tree back to Andrew Jackson McClain, the elder and the younger. There is an excellent McClain genealogy site by Don Marsh at http://www.mexia.com/mcclain/1828IN/.htm, but if you lose that just get on any browser and enter McClain genealogy and you will get that along with other genealogy sites for McClain. I am interested in folk music only because my daughter is Laurie McClain, born August 1, 1958 in Los Angeles, California, is a songwriter/singer, in Nashville, Tennessee. She has a CD of her songs produced in 1998. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
